WHERE RIVER AND OCEAN MEET FOR FUN

How did we get here?

We believe that vintage recorded music pairs nicely with everything that Astoria, Oregon has to offer: the scenic splendor of the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean, off-the-chart local beer and spirits, popular movie locations and tall tales of shipwrecks with a goodly mix of the town’s long, sordid and haunted history.

Astoria is a legendary place, and it’s a place where you can find legendary music to bring home. Whether you live in or near town or come to Astoria on a visit, we invite you to enjoy Sandbar Sounds where we will help you discover older music that never sounded better. Our vibe is 1960s Cosmic Pop, 1970s Power Pop and Proto Punk and 1980s New Wave and College Radio-slash-Alternative.

Come find us at 211 12th Street in downtown Astoria near the Liberty Theater. We are open 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. and noon – 5 p.m. on Sundays. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Waterloo Sunset (1967)

Like chocolate, Waterloo Sunset has a calming effect. It’s the feeling of being in love, though with no one in particular. It’s a rare love song that’s about other people. Its sense of loss is impossible to separate from its lift.
